Why I love my job

I haven’t always had jobs I loved. In fact, like a lot of people, I have had many jobs which I despised. But in 2009, I was lucky enough to get into teaching full time and have been there ever since. I have had many ups and downs in my job, but luckily many more ups than downs. This week has been a mixture of both, but since it has ended on a high I’ve decided to write this slightly self-indulgent post to remind myself how I feel when I’m on a high from work.

  1. Every day is different. I thrive on change.
  2. I get to work with people from around the world. I love learning about different people and different cultures.
  3. I can make a difference to people’s lives. Maybe not a huge lifesaving difference, but I have been in the situation of living in, or visiting, a country where I didn’t speak the language, and every piece of communication learned helps.
  4. I learn something new at least every week. This has been especially true this year since I became self-employed.
  5. It usually doesn’t feel like work, but more like a hobby that has turned into work. (A more accurate description is probably work which has turned into a hobby.) I almost never watch the clock to see when I’m finished, something I did regularly in previous jobs.
  6. I’m my own boss. Every single thing I do, or decision I make, has a direct impact on me and my work.
  7. I get to be creative.
  8. I’m constantly challenged.
  9. I know that I can easily take my work to another country if the urge arises.
  10. I get to read and research for work.

Do you love your job? Let me know why in the comments box below.

They might call me crazy, but, strangely enough, I love my job, I'm happy not for what I am but what I do.

I'm economist, but I have to admit that as many young when I was graduated I didn't know what to do, the love for my carreer not was the reason for my choice, there were other reasons, friendships, friend's advices, etc.

Thanks to my degree right now I have a marvelous job, I don't have a great salary, sometimes I have to work more than I would like, I am constantly traveling by work, often I argue with my coworkers and with other people, auditors, government employee, but, despite all that, I'm happy, I like to go everyday at my office, I try constantly to improve myself and give more in my tasks.

I work in an NGO and our main goal is to save and protect children. This is the reason why I love my job.

That sounds great! I think it's very important to enjoy work since it takes so much time.
